Next Release?

I think it's better to have a good codebase to build on, then having a new release

with only visual things changed.

But to hear from you, that there'll be a next release within this year is very good.

I'm gonna ask the forbidden question.

Is there any idea at all when the next release of Pegasus will be available?  I know I'm an impatient malcontent and have no right to ask this question concerning FREE software.  I'm not asking for a date though just a rough idea.  1 year, 2years, 5years??

Thanks

Jane

A new release should be out this year.  I believe a public beta may go out first before the full release.

I've been thrashing around quite badly for several months, trying to handle way too many things at once. As a result, I'm well behind the eight ball on the next WinPMail release, which should have been out well before now.

There should be a release before the end of this year: that said, don't get your hopes up too high - it won't seem markedly different from v4.41... And therein is the frustration of my life, because something like half the entire Pegasus Mail codebase has had significant changes made to get to the point of offering you very little in the way of visible difference. I blogged about this a few months ago - I've had to port the Pegasus Mail code to Visual C so I have a future development path, and in doing so, I decided it was time to do a lot of internal rationalization that was long overdue. The result is  a codebase I can maintain much more easily, and which offers considerably improved debugging, but without much new to show for my community.

The good news is that once the new release is out, I will be free to work on entirely new things, so there should not be the same levels of delay in getting future releases out the door.

Cheers!
