Prompt to complete Internet Mail Options at start-up every time

I went through these steps, but no change in behavior of Pegasus Mail. It still prompts me to go through the configuration process at start-up.

I have been a Pegasus Mail user for over 15 years. I recently re-installed Pegasus Mail on my reconfigured laptop (IBM, Windows XP Pro) and transferred all my previous mail successfully. The laptop has two user accounts: administrator and a power user account. On the administrator, Pegasus mail works flawlessly. Whenever I open Pegasus Mail on my regular account, Pegasus prompts me to complete the Internet Mail Options every time. I also have to reconfigure the Preference and Settings every time I open the program. Some other features have problems too. The laptop has just one disk drive. Initially I had installed Pegasus Mail under c:\Program Files. I have changed this to install the program directly under C:/Pegasus Mail/Programs. This did not make a difference. None of my other software programs have this problem. Are there any settings in the Windows operating system related to Pegasus which could cause this problem?

Check that your 'Power User' has full rights to C:/Pegasus Mail/ & children.

Thanks. I have checked that and users have full control over these folders under security settings. Any other options to check?

Go into the "Help" menu and choose "About Pegasus Mail": in the dialog that opens, click the "Info" button. Now select the text in the info dialog and press Ctrl+C to copy it. Paste it into a posting here so we can see it.

It definitely sounds like there's a directory path not properly-configured in the program, or perhaps a read-only file somewhere.

Cheers!

I have seen instances where you think permissions have been correctly set, and they have not. In particular, when moving folders from one machine to another, it is sometimes not enough to simply add a user account to the permissions list and grant them Full Control. Try the following and see if this helps:

Open the Properties dialog for the Pegasus Mail folder. Click the Security tab, make sure your account is listed and has Full Control. Click the Advanced button and place a checkmark in the 'Replace permission entries on all child objects....', then click Apply. You will be asked to confirm the action - click Yes. This will reset all permissions on all the files which will specifically include your poweruser account. Click OK until all dialogs are closed and open Pegasus Mail using your Poweruser account, set the Internet Mail Options, close Pegasus, then open it again.

Good luck
