pegasus consuming disk space

Thanks for the help. I had dropped to 0 space on this 2 gig partition. I hadn't realized that Pegasus needed to write to the drive when compressing, so the folders wouldn't compress which consumed more space yet which I didn't have. I finally deleted messages directly from the folder panes instead of the message preview pane and made sure I had unchecked the preserve deleted messages until close button. I now have 230 MB free. Problem was caused by some friends who like to send me large videos and photos, easier to delete than threaten an otherwise good friendship. thanks for your help much.

I have pegasus 4.41 running under win 2k, however the problem started in 4.31. I run Pegasus on a single machine. It resides on my D drive which is a 2 gig partition and shares that partition with several other programs. I began receiving low drive space warnings. I have received these before so as my past practice I began the task of cleaning out my mail folders and deleting old stuff that I don't need anymore. That has always recovered ample space before. However this time the more I delete the less drive space I seem to have. I have restarted Pegasus and also rebooted but the problem continues. The folders won't compress to regain deleted space and I can only delete a few messages before I get error messages stating that the operation can't be performed due to lack of drive space. I upgraded to 4.41 thinking that somehow the exe had become corrupted but same problem. Any ideas anyone?

How much free disk space do you have?  You need at least as much space free as the size of the folder to compress a folder.  If you really need to do the compression and do not have enough drive by copying the messages you want to save to a new folder and delete the old.  You'll still need a lot of  drive space but it will be less than that required for a compression.  FWIW, on a 2 GByte partition I would never have less than 200 MBytes free.
