Problem with POP3 client - New User

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for all your help. I have found the problem. The IP address of the mail server had been changed, so I was happily looking at a mailserver that was no longer being used. When I trace on the actual url for the mail server I found that it ended up at a different IP address. Changed my IP, Username and password on the Mercury /32 server and mail came flooding in.

Thanks again for all you help it is appreciated.

I have taken over the management of school network that is using Mercury 32. Everything was going fine but all of a sudden it has stop downloading the messages from our host server. Internally the mail is working fine we can send stuff between each other.  I am also able to send email out of the school to any external address. But no mail is being downloaded from the outside world. Checked the Host server and there is some 600 odd messages waiting at our host to come down.

I reset the MercuryD POP3 Client and turned on Logging to see if I could find where it fails but it seems to be logging in OK but still not downloading the mail.

I have copied the log file it created here:-

The server says there ios nothing available in this POP3 mailbox.  It might be that the mail is marked read and the server is only offering up unread mail.

No mail to download.  That said you'd better change the username and password.

Thank you for the quick response.

I have actually logged into the mail server via the ISP mail service and all the mail that is currently sitting there is maked as new, that is what has confused me.

It was working last week but all of a sudden it just stopped. I have restarted the computer it is on,  restarted the mail server but nothing seems to want to make  it start to down load all the messages.

I am really lost so any clues would really be appreciated.

And you are right I will reset the Password

Thanks again.

According to what the the mail client sees there is nothing to download.  It's never going to start pulling down the mail until the server says there is something to download.  Are you absolutely sure you are looking at the correct POP3 mailbox on the server?
