That looks to be the problem thanks for the quick help.

I have created a pop email account on our Mercury32 server, and have pointed the users Outlook 2003 client to theserver and mailbox. I've also setup Outlook so that it will keep the messages on the server for 1 day so the users Blackberry can pick up the messages.  The problem I'm having is the emails are not staying on the server after Outlook retrieves the messages, so the users Blackberry is only getting messages if Outlook is closed. I've tried the same mailbox with Outlook Express on a different pc and the same thing happened were the messages are not kept on the server. What do I have to do to get this setting to work.

Check your settings in Configuration/Mercury POP3 Server. If you have the default setting "Offer only unread mail to connected clients" checked (together with "Mark successfully retrieved mail as 'read'") then any mail that has been read using Outlook won't be visible in Blackberry.
