Subfolders & messages missing

sigh .. I know Merc/32 limitations on subfolders but a new user didn't :-(   Mercury/32 v4.52, Evolution email client, IMAP connection.

A user connected to Merc/32 IMAP using OSS mail client Evolution, created new folders, dragged most of the messages from the Inbox into the following folders (Inbox - 2004, Inbox - 2005 etc etc)

The user then dragged the Inbox - xxx folders into the Archive folder. And now the newly created subfolders & their messages are not visible or accessible.

I installed Pegasus mail however I cannot see any option to rebuild the IMAP message store

How can I fix this?

If the folder do not exist in Mercury/32 the folders are gone.

You can install WinPMail and point it at the folders in the direct mode.  You then run as this user  to see what is there in the way of folders and mail.  If the folders exist they can be also be accessed via IMAP4.

Thanks Thomas for the prompt reply.

"direct mode" = POP access ?

I tried POP access but, obviously, cannot see any folders. Using Explorer, I can see 13 .PMM files in the Mercury\Mail\username folder. I can see 8 folders in the IMAP profile for the above user. So, the folders (PMMs) are still there, and the size and date modified looks correct.  But how to retrieve them?

No direct mode is when the HOME and NEW mail directory of WinPMail points at the mail directories on the Mercury/32 server.  If you have Mercury/32 setup with the defaults you probably have Mercury/32 mail boxes in C:\mercury\mail.  You need to install WinPMail to c:\pmail and then go to c:\pmail\programs and run pconfig.exe and set the HOME and NEW mail directory to c:\mercury\mail\~n.  You can then run WinPMail as any Mercury/32 user and directly access the mailbox.
