OpenCurPrinter error, version 3.12c

Well, that fixed it. Now I'm wondering why it has worked fine for several years before suddenly exhibiting this problem. Many thanks.

I'll start by outlining the system I'm using so that you'll have something concrete to go on. I'm using Pegasus Mail 3.12c on Windows XP on several computers. (I'm using 3.12c because newer versions won't show sub-folders using IMAP.) Most of the computers are on my LAN at home, and share a common mailbox (hey, there's only one of me!) located on a mapped drive. One is at my vacation retreat, which also uses "the same" mailbox (which is synchronized each time I travel back and forth by a method that's not related to this issue).

It's been working fine like this for several years, but suddenly I can't open some types of email at the vacation retreat; instead I get an error box titled OpenCurPrinter which says Error initializing the printer. Well, since there is no printer at this location that's hardly surprising, but what's puzzling is why it wants to initialize a printer in the first place. I can correct the error by changing the message properties by unchecking "Contains data in multipart MIME format" and "Contains alternative versions of a message". After that it works fine.

I don't have the same problem on any of the other computers (but then, there is a shared printer there on the LAN). I haven't tried reinstalling Pmail, although that would be easy enough, but I wonder if anyone has a hint as to what the heck's going on?

The program is asking the printer driver how to display the fonts and the printer driver for some reason is also asking if the printer is online.  Create a new printer set to print to a file and make that the windows default printer.  If this fixes your problem then you might try upgrading the printer driver.
