Many thanks for your answers. The mails have been transferred without any problem ... and the user is pretty much satisfied.

I have Pegasus Mail version 4.41 installed on the local disk of a standalone PC. On a new WIndows 2003 server I did install Mercury/32 version 4.62 and Pegasus Mail on a shared drive. I want to transfer all the folders from the PC to the mail folders managed by Mercury on the server.

Solution 1 : create a user on Mercury and copy the content of the folder MAIL from the PC.

Solution 2 : create on the PC an IMAP connection to Mercury and copy the messages.

Any idea ??

As far as I know, solution 1 should work ( s2 will definitely work but will be slower). Try it wih a COPY of the files so if it doesn't work, no loss. [:)]

I would then test via IMAP. 

You can use pconfig.exe to point Pegasus at the mailbox on Mercury so you can access it in 'file mode' or by POP/IMAP via Mercury.

note: I use Mercury a lot more than Pegasus so someone else (Thomas [:D]) could give you more tips on integrating them.

Search the forum for 'pconfig.exe' for threads with relevant instructions for moving mailboxes. Looks pretty easy but I haven't done it myself. [:)]

 EDIT: Just reread your post and spotted that you have Peg on the server already, just make sure you have the same username set up on the server first then copy the files and it should just work.
 

Solution 3 : Copy the whole mailbox from Pegasus Mail to Mercury.

Mercury and Pegasus mail use the same mailbox structure.  All you ned to do is

1.    Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info and note the HOME and NEW mail directories. Should be the same directory in a standalone setup, probably c:\pmail\mail\admin.

2.    Exit WinPMail 

3.    Copy this mail directory to the mailboc location on the server.

4.    Run pconfig.exe on the local machine and change the HOME and NEW mail directory spec to point to the server.

 If you want to use the version of WinPMail running on the server make sure that the HOME and NEW mail directory spec is using the UNC format so that a remote system using a shortcut points to the correct system for the mailboxes.
