Setting font in reply messages

[quote user="Thomas R. Stephenson"]

Interestingly if I hit reply and then CTRL+J, it uses the smaller font.

If I hit reply, then "space," and then CTRL+J, it uses the larger font.

I just discovered that....probably why I gave up on the CTRL+J fix a loooong time ago!!

(Is that a bug?)

No bug at all.  The CTRL+J reformats a paragraph, if there is nothing to reformat it does nothing.  Type something first and  then hit the CTRL+J and you'll see the effect of reformatting and changing the font to the default font.

Pretty interesting....I just have to remember to hit Crt+J before I start a second paragraph.

Thanks for all of your help!!!!!

me....how do I set the font in my reply messages to arial 12 on a

permanaent basis without doing it each and every time??

When sending a message use the red "f" icon to change the default font, the black "f" icon only changes the font if the current message.

That said, if you are replying to a HTML message the reply font is picked up from the message and might be the font shown in BearHTML, I am not sure.  I do know is it not the default font size.

You're absolutely right!

If I respond to an HTML email and keep the HTML in my reply, the original text looks fine but the reply that I type in is the wrong font.

If I respond to an HTML email and remove the HTML in my reply, the original text looks all messed up but the reply that I type in is the correct font.

Are those my only 2 choices or am I doing something wrong????

thnx

The third and forth choices are the ones I use.

3.  Respond to selected text in the HTML message and it uses plain text in the reply.  I do this one quite often since I really do not need to bring in all the HTML pictures and graphics. This also allows mt to using in-list and bottom posting.

4.  Respond and set my font before I type the first word or use CTRL+J to reformat it using my default font.  This is the one I use when I really need to maintain the original text. In this case I use top posting since in-line and bottom posting does not work all that well in an HTML message.

Well, after 10 years of Pegasus, I think I've been using these 2 work-arounds for this problem in a couple different forms.

Question:  the "black f" as you call it is set for arial 10 and that's what I always have to change.

Is that pre-set "at the factory?"

No way for me to change it?????

thnx

Mine shows Lucida Sans Unicode 12 and that is the font that I have set to use in the editor with the red "f".  IIRC, the Arial 10 is the default font.

OK, so I played around a bit.

My "black f" is set for arial 12.

With HTML enabled, when I hit reply, some emails use arial 12 when I type and some use arial 10!!??

I guess I'll give up.....

Yes, like I said, it's picking up the fonts from the original message and not your default setting.   If you use CTRL+J though then it will re-formatusing yuor default font.

No bug at all.  The CTRL+J reformats a paragraph, if there is nothing to reformat it does nothing.  Type something first and  then hit the CTRL+J and you'll see the effect of reformatting and changing the font to the default font.
