Question about managing mailing lists

Well, that's a lot easier than the way I finally figured out. Mercury writes the VERP address and the actual TO: address in the logs, so I was searching for the VERP address and then searching for the message number to find the e-mail address.

I like your way better!

Thanks.

We have a mailing list that people subscribed to, but now they don't remember and are marking us as SPAM on AOL. I have set up the AOL feedback loop address, so I am getting an e-mail each time someone marks our messages as SPAM, but instead of them sending us the e-mail address so we can get them off the list, they strip that out. I am getting partial headers back, including the Return-Path: setting, which is to a VERP address, in the format of verp.dndlc3RwaGFsQGFvbC5jb20=.100@mydomain.com.

My question is, with this information, can I do anything to figure out which address this message was sent to and get them off my list?

Thanks in advance.

This message was sent to vwestphal at aol.com.  You can do a Base64 decode of the string between the verp. and the .100 and get the original email address.  I use the Cubed Labs encoder/decoder to decode these strings.
