Confirm delivery and mailing list

Indeed, VERP changes everything.

(In my system) if VERP is enabled the confirm delivery message goes to the dynamically created VERP address, that is, it goes to nobody.

But the subscription status of the sender is set to "disabled by VERP". Too much punishment, isn't?

BTW, after the probes I realize that the affected address is not necessarily that of the list owner, but that in the "Errors go to" list setting

(conventional error handling mode).

Thanks.

Best regards.

Hello,

I have a mailing list running on Mercury/32 4.62. A list owner is in place.

When a list user sends a message to the list with "confirm delivery" enabled (Disposition-Notification-To header?), the response of the Mail Delivery System (postmaster@domain) is sent to the list owner. It's a normal behaviour? Perhaps a misconfiguration?.

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

I don't recall how this was discussed in relation to the anonymous flags. Could you test and summarize how and if the Disposition-Notification-To header changes in relation to the not anonymous, partly anonymous and fully anonymous flag setting?

I'm not too sure where mine is different that yours.  I have a test list on a Mercury/32 server where anyone can post that has a moderator test@tstephenson.com set.  The moderator is not a list member.  There is only one list member techsupp@tstephenson.com.  The list is set to not strip headers.  When i send to this list from support@tstephenson.com with a header Disposition-Notification-To: support@tstephenson.com set the incoming message has this header but the outgoing does not.  I am using VERP here.  In fact, the disposition header is completely ignored as far as i can see.  That's a good deal as far as I can see since i really do not think that a sender should be able to collect all of the email addresses on a list by simply sending a message to the list.  Here's the list settings:
