Go to Tools / Identities and create a new Identity and then 'become' it.  Now set up the SMTP setting you want for that. This will be activated every time you become that identity - there's no need to enable/disable items each time.  You can set the shortcut to start in a specific identity or change manually after starting.  There are quite a few options which are identity-specific, including your email address.

The help has a detailed section on Identities and Attaching identities to folders. It doesn't mention SMTP explicitly, but does talk about different POP3 definitions.

 I am obviously allowed to add another server but how do I make the second one active? I would like to be able to switch back and forth. And is it possible to use one server for POP and another for SMTP?


Also, when I try to use help, I get "winpm-32,hlp file cannot be found". Indeed, a search of my entire hard drive shows that it does not exist. Is this file available for download?

Set up an identity and define the servers there.  They can be, and usually are, quite different for sending (SMTP) and receiving (POP3).

That help file is usually installed in versions 4.41 and below and is normally in the same directory as the program file - what version of Windows are you running?

Thanks but neither of these answer the questions I asked. I am running WinXP SP2.

 I know how to set the pop and smtp information, as I said. I have just not found how to switch the default from one to another when I have two servers listed in the network configuration. The manual does not discuss switching between multiple identities.

Also, as I wrote, I did a full search of my entire drive, including the Pmail folders and the help file simply does not exist. My question is, can I download this help file? It did not install with PM ver 4.41. Nor did it exist in my previous version.

The only way you can switch SMTP sending servers is to switch identities.  Only the first one will be used if you have more than one defined in the setup.

I don't know what's happened to your install. You could try installing the program to a completely different location and copying the file across manually.

You were correct about the help files. I installed Pmail again, from the original one I had stored, into a different partition and the help files were indeed there for me to transfer to my original install. My help files are now working but..
