SMTP Server Connection control settings

Hi!

Is it save to use the following settings for SMTP server connection control:

Do not permit SMTP relaying of non-local mail - Active

Use strict local relaying restrictions - Active

Authenticated SMTP connections may relay mail - Active

Only Authenticated SMTP connections may relay mail - NOT Active

Up to now I had the last option active but now I want to use SharpWebMail to have a web access to my mail accounts and I do not know how to tell SharpWebMail to use a user + password to authenticate itself. So I disabled this option.

Is there a security issue why I should not do this?

I need the 3rd option since external users must be able to send mails...

Thanks,

Konrad

I've run like this for years without problems.  As long as you do not allow any remote IP addresses to relay you should not have any problem with this setup.  Check out what IP addresses are allowed to relay very carefully.
