This helped. I removed a bunch of .cnm's and tried again. It worked. Not only did it work, but it appears that I didn't loose anything, although I must have.

Guess they weren't important. 

I occasionaly get this message, but continuing always works. Now in hangs opening the new mail folder.

I reinstalled 4.5B but it didn't solve the problem. I assume my new mail folder is messed up, is there a way to recover?

I resolved the problem by copying my user folder from my laptop to my desktop with the problem.

I'm a little down level, but happy to get it working. If anyone knows of a simpler solution, please let me know in case I roun into this again.

I get a lot of "mailbox locked" errors when starting Pegasus, this is the first hang when I continued.

It's never open when I get this error.

Remove the new mail (*.cnm files) from the new mail folder and try again.  If it opens you can put the files back one at a time until yuo find the problem message.

The mailbox locked says the mailboxp.lck (mailboxm.lck if using IMAP4 as well) file has not been removed when the program was closed.  Could be you are not getting a complete close of the program.
