Pegasus email second email account question

Thank you, that helps, I think I can handle it now. It also helped when my ISP admitted they hadn't completed the assignment of new address correctly :-(   and now that is fixed too.

Thanks again. Ted

Everything is working OK, I'm using version 4.41 with Windows XP in the USA. I want to be able to work with a second email address but I don't see a way to do it, this must have come up before, don't lots of folks have multiple email addresses? How do I proceed?

TIA

1.  If you do not care that much about what address you use when working this account just go to Tools | Internet options and add the second POP3 account.

2,  If you wish to separate this a bit go to Tools | Identities, create a new identity.  Become that identity and go to Tools | Internet opetions and set the General, POP3 and SMTP info you want to use for that identiry. You need to use the "Add" to create new POP3 and SMTP definitions.

3.  And finally if you really want to separate this use Addresses |  User management to create a new user.  You then run as that user and setup the user information.

Thank you, I have tried following these instructions but my test messages still come back undelivered, and I have the feeling I am out of my depth, I don't really understand the instructions.. The problem may not be in the system but in me, I know, I'm supposed to be in control of it but I'm not very computer savvy. Could you please back up from my original question and give me an over view of how multiple email addresses are handled in general, what is supposed to happen at the ISP? and what is supposed to happen at my end? and, maybe expand on the instructions a bit? TIA

[quote user="Tedr"]Thank you, I have tried following these instructions but my test messages still come back undelivered, and I have the feeling I am out of my depth, I don't really understand the instructions..

1.   Use Tools | Identities and create a new identity  using the "Add" button.  (I'm going to assume that your new identity is called "new" for the purposes of these instructions.). Base the creation of the new identity on the current default identity.

2.   Select the new identity and become that identity using the "Become" button.

3.  Use Tools | Internet options and change the General, POP3 and SMTP setups to match the new account. You will have to change at least the email address in the General setting, the POP3 server name, username and password in the POP3 setup and at least the server name in the SMTP setup.  If the server uses authentication yuo need to go to the "Security" tab and set the account/username and password used with the server

4.  Using the new identity create a new message and send it.  It will use what you have setup for the SMTP sending server.

5.  Using the new identity use File | Selective mail download.  It should connect to the new POP3 account and show the messages on the server

The problem may not be in the system but in me, I know, I'm supposed to be in control of it but I'm not very computer savvy.
