It was the Mercury.Bak file.   It was zero length but I restored it from backup as you suggested and all is good agian.

Oh my,

I tried to edit the local user accounts OUTSIDE of the program and now it won't even start.

 it's very mad at me.

The Opening splash logo pops up for a few seconds, then vanished....repeat...repeat...program never comes up?

How do I fix this?

I restored the files from the recycle bin, but that didnt fix it.

Presumably either MERCURY.INI (in the main Mercury directory) or PMAIL.USR (in the Mail directory) is damaged. The program creates backups of MERCURY.INI (MERCURY.BAK, MERCURY.BK2) so try with one of these first.

If it's PMAIL.USR that's the problem you can rename it and check that the program starts. It's a text file with a fairly simple format so you should be able to fix it manually.
