553 <username> Domain name required ....

Forward-To: user@hotmail.com

Delivery-Also: Y

Ok then it looks like the local user does not exist.  Possibly you did not restart Mercury or use the CTRL+Configuration+Manage local users when creating the new user.

Read through the supplied link and from what I can make out due to the config of the Mercury setup at my end I cannot send using file FORWARD?

Could somebody confirm this [:)]

Below are the mercury modules that I have configured:

Mercury C, D, I, S

This system I inherited from the previous IT tech and I'm not 100% up on Mercury(my excuse!).

There are approx 15 pop3 mail boxes that Mercury D services.

All users have Aliases

All users use Outlook via Mercury I

So any more pointers in the right direction to sovling my prob would be super [:)]

TIA

Mail sent to simply user instead of user@domain.com will have an

X-Envelope-To: address of a simple user name rather then a full SMTP

address.  This happens in a number of ways but most common is through

the use of MercuryD and delivering using a user name in the MercuryD

setup.  I do not know how you are setup but you must not be delivering

via an alias, filter, MercuryD, etc using a simple user name or the

forwarding will fail.

The alias must point to "username@yourdomain" not just "username".

Will using IMAP cause the FORWARD file not to work?

1.  When using MercuryD use user@domain.com for the "Local user" name instead of just user.

2.  When creating an alias use user@domain.com rather than just user as the "Real address".

3.  When filtering to a user use the full email address as the target address.

i.e. pretty much any place it asks for a username use the full SMTP email address.

Will using IMAP cause the FORWARD file not to work?

Nope, the only thing that cases this sort of problem is when the mail is delivered to the mailbox with an X-Envelope-To: address of user instead of user@domain.  The program uses this address as the MAIL FROM: address in the forwarded message and that is an invalid MAIL FROM address form.[/quote]
