Sv: Sv: Mail Delivery problem w/ specific destination

Well if it is a static IP, you have to have proper reverse dns for most deliveries to work. If the reverse zone does not match your forward lookup zone many will consider your IP a dynamic one.

But yes - talk to them - they are people too.

 Hello,

We've suddenly started having a problem delivering mail to certain destinations (all apparently hosted by Fairpoint Communications). A sample of the message from Merc. is below. This Mercury server has been up for years without any such problems. The IP is a valid IP and hasn't changed. We "nat" the public IP to a private IP through the firewall. The private IP is static and hasn't changed. There is a PTR record for the IP as well and it is set as our top priority MX record. We do have a second MX record with lower priority we use on a test server.

All other mail, as far as we know is flowing fine. It appears to be just Fairpoint that is rejecting us. Since Fairpoint is the major LEC in this area this is a significant problem for us. Any thoughts on how to resolve?

Mercury/32 v4.61

 Thanks!

Short term: You have to change from MercuryE to MercuryC and relay via your ISP, as fairpoint thinks your outside IP is dynamic.

Long term: Get a valid fixed IP, - if you already have one - tell fairpoint they are wrong.

Thanks,

The interesting part is, Fairpoint IS our ISP and assigned our IP allocation for us, yet they appear to be the only ones who don't see it as valid. I'll follow-up with them.
