Thanks for the heads up. From your experience with ClamAV would you suggest waiting for about 6 months after each new release before upgrading?
Errr..what?! Surely not! Why would someone want to wait for 6 month after a new release of a virus scanner before installing it? Besides that version 0.94.2 which you appear to run was released merely 4 month ago and has nothing to do with the official ClamAV page. The ClamAV dev team has indeed stopped supporting the Win32 platform since version 0.92.1 but that means binary releases (and completely dropped support for Cygwin versions).
As for ClamWall there's unfortunately nothing I can do. Lukas is aware of the issue with 0.95 but didn't look into it yet. As it seems many applications which connect to ClamD's socket have problems since 0.95, such as ClamWall or ASSP (aka Perl's File::Scan::ClamAV module), but the changes to the stream protocol are all documented at the ClamAV page. Besides, as long as I get no feedback from the developer(s) of these applications I can't even tell what the problem is.
Best regards,
Nico
