Vista and PMail not downloading graphics in e-mail . . .

Mr. T.R.Stephenson,

Excuse me for not having been here, long story, just discovered what was the problem with not downloading the graphics.  The Bear Help feature from Mr. Irelam was out of version, several versions out, and I managed to get a fresh copy.  Two of my e-mail addies were working fairly well.  The third, my Wife's, would not work plus my system has given me problems over the last several months, another story.

It seems that I needed to go into Tools/Internet Options/ Receive Pop3/Security Tab and then check box "Disable certificate validation " and that solved my problems.  Plus needed to go back into my Wife's Mail box and recreate the Bearhtml.log file for her account.  Now it is all working again.

Thank you for the assistance and reading my posts plus being patient with me even when I was not able to even get on the web for several months.  I am back and still working with PegasusMail and Vista SP2 now.

Excuse me, that is not completely correct but close.  I have three e-mail addies that I have for three different PigMail accesses.  One receives mostly graphic links from webpages and most of the time they will not download, some times they do just fine then one will and the next one will not.  The only solution is to crash PMail and when reopened the Preview is not engaged.  The other two do well most of the time, one has been starting to have the same problem just this evening.  My Pmail is Version 4.41 (Win32), Jul 16 2006 and the bearhtml is version 4.6.3, I think the zip file is bear463dotzip.

My O/S is within my sig, Thank you for reading my request for HELP!!,

First of all check out Tools | Internet options | (Receiving)POP3  and verify the TCP/IP timeout setting.  It should be at least 120 seconds.  Next, Go to File | Network configuration | General and turn on "Create Internet session logs (advanced diagnostic use only)"

Checking this control tells Pegasus Mail to create special log files that show the entire exchange of information between it and the servers it connects to. Each session will be created in a file called TCPxxxx.WPM in your home mailbox directory (the "xxxx" is replaced by four digits). Creating session logs will slow down the performance of your system somewhat, and you should be aware that any username and password information exchanged between Pegasus Mail and the server will be shown in the log, *even* if you use SSL to secure the connection. Session logs are primarily useful if you need to debug a problem between Pegasus Mail and one of the servers it connects to - you should enable the option only on instructions from a system administrator or from Pegasus Mail technical support. [ Technical note: this control has the same effect as using a "-Z 32" commandline switch when you run Pegasus Mail ]

You can now try again to receive the mail and then look at the resulting TCP/IP debug file.  Review of this file will tell you exactly what is going on between WinPMail and the server.  After you munge the password in the file you can post it here for review.

Greetings Mr. Stephenson,

I have been working on doing what you have instructed and so far all that has happened is  I now have the correct TCP/IP timeout setting in place.  Have set the "Create Internet session logs" and there is NOT any log file where you have told me it should be.  I have three e-mail addies and they are each setup using command line instructions, "\Pegasus\Programs\winpm-32.exe -A -MS -I (username) [without the parans].  Have also gone in and added the -Z32 without the check mark for the 'Create internet session logs' to see if that would work, NOT any good either.

Thank you for this attempt,

I assume you have do a download with this checked to create the files.  If so I suspect it is there and the OS is hiding it.  I assume that you are using \Pegasus\mail for the mail directory structure and running as multiuser.  If so there should be a  \Pegasus\mail\pmail.usr file and the user directories at the same level.  Use Start | Run | cmd to get the command prompt.  Use cd c:\pmail\mail\<username> to change to the user directory and then use dir *.WPM to see a listing of the debug file.

It's -z<space>32  i.e \Pegasus\Programs\winpm-32.exe -A -MS -I (username) -Z 32

Thank you for this attempt,

Greetings Mr. Stephenson,

You are very close, not as multiuser but each as an individual account.  They each open in their own Window of Pegasus Mail.  I have Windows set to NOT hide any file or extension, including the O/S or system files.  I did searches of the folder for that account plus any and all other folders all the way back up to Pegasus and found nothing last night, today they show very bright and clear or maybe I was blinded by my ignorance.

While attempting to include the above area I opened a CMD and CDed to Pegasus\mail\user access folder and did a search, DIR *.wpm /ah and found nothing, so did it without the attribute hidden and found two files that had been created.  Have edited them for posting, gibberish for user access plus password.  Personally I do not see any HELP for me, maybe you are so much smarter than I that you can read between the lines or within them and give me a clue, yes, I am clueless.  I await your notification for posting, do not do any of that unless requested in writing.

Thank you  for your time and HELP, I need much of that,

It's best that this is done via email since it's a lot easier.  I really want the session logs unedited except for the actual body text and the passwords.  All headers should be exactly as they were in the original log.  Send them to techsupp@tstephenson.com
