Pegasus & Vista - program(s) slowing down and hanging

That's brilliant, many thanks! Making pdf printer a default has totally removed the slow functioning of Pegasus.

IE is still somewhat slow, but that was by far the less annoying. Also I'll now have to figure out how to get round certain access programs only printing through the default printer, but that is much better.

Hi,

Apologies if I'm posting a duplicate, but all other Vista-related problems seem to be more specific than mine.  I have got one PC running Vista which is very slow in using Pegasus.  IE and WinExplorer are also very slow.  On uninstalling Pegasus, the other programs run normally.  I have just installed the new 4.50 Beta program and am still having the same problem ~13 seconds to open an email etc.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks.

Not sure what is happening but I do suspect that there is something in Vista causing the problem. The first thing that comes to mind is that you are using a network printer and that printer is not available when PMail asks how to display the font.  The second thing it that there is a drive mapped that is not available.

Where did you install PMail?  If you installed it to "Program File" then it appears the Vista does not like that since it does not like data in this directory, use c:\pmail instead for the install.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks.

Many thanks for the response. I've moved it into c:\pmail successfully, but unfortunately that one doesn't have an effect. Worth a try though!

With the network printer, I wasn't quite sure what you meant (probably just me being slow). Would you be able to give any more info?

 Thanks!

Is your printer attached to the computer that Pegasus is running and is it turned on?

Or is the printer a networked (on another machine)? Must be available for printing.

Pegasus requires a printer to be defined and active for displaying 'fancy' (html etc) messages.

If you only have a network/shared printer you can install either a 'generic' text via the Control Panel | Add Printer or download a pdf writer and set as default.

There are more but these I have used without problems.
