How to refresh files for USB installation?

I have a USB key with pmail installed so that it accesses the files on the key. This was set up for the last time that I needed it, since which several things have changed on the desktop (mercury run) installation.

As it is so perfectly configured as it is, I am hoping to just be able to transfer over to the key the new mails and folder information. At the moment I have two folders on the usb stick in the Pmail folder (the pmail.exe is on the root of the key):

'Mail' directory which contains two folders - Admin and Public - and a pmail.usr file. (The public folder I suspect is redundant as I found I was unable to access public folders while I was roaming with the key, in spite of them being there. Maybe I just didn't know how to do it?)

The Admin folder contains all the cache.pm, folstate.pm, hierarch.pm as well as pmm and pmi etc. files.  However since I used that last I have considerably cleaned up my pmail and so much of the old content is not needed. What would be simplest way to get this working for me again when I go away tomorrow? Just delete the old pmm and pmi (any other??) files and copy the ones on the present installation over to the key? Or is that fraught with problems?

I am not anxious to start all over again if it can be avoided.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ellie

Perhaps I should rephrase the question:

What files (or what list of file extensions) should I absolutely retain on the key installation in the admin folder in order for the installation to work and paths not to be lost, etc? If I know then, I can happily delete the rest and copy over the new versions of files.

I hope someone can help with this.

Cheers!

Ellie
