Problem with saving mails to disc

Thanks for your comments.

"Might simply be that the path is too long" does seem to be the case. Also, long file names seem to be ok with a shorter path.

This was a means to an end of trying to use MailStore  for archiving. A different program has been suggested, in another post, that is compatible with PMail without having to save to disc first. I will trial that first in case I don't need to worry about this particular problem.

I would like some help with saving mails to disc please.

I don't seem to be able to properly save a batch of e-mails in a folder to to disc.

I open a  folder, select all and then choose "Save messages to disc". Then select "To Separate Files with Unique Names" and OK, browse to a folder, enter a file name and Save.

I end up with only 3 files when there are say, 50 in the folder.

When I try again with a different folder and saving to the same folder with a different file name, I get a message about correcting the file name.

I was able to do this back in 2006 and only remember that I had to be careful with file names, otherwise it worked and I still have those files.

Can some one advise please, what am I missing?

Terry.

Ok, I've answered my own question:

You must use a high level folder, this is probably a left-over from DOS days.

For example,  you can use C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\PM Text Archives

but not  the "subfolder" shown here C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\PM Text Archives\subfolder

I think file names of no more that 8 characters are required too.

Terry.

Might simply be that the path is too long when the whole thing is used in a filter.  Have you tried mapping say z: to  C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents and creating the directory "subfolder" so that you could use something like z:\PM Text Archives\subfolder?

Also are you saying that a attachment with a long filename is not supported?
