Unreadable disarmed mails from yahoogroups

This looks very much like the previous reports of poorly formatted YahooGroups messages.   The latest version of Bearhtml has fixes for this, and should be used. As mentioned by Thomas it is available at a number of locations, now including the Downloads - Add-ons area in this Community.pmail.com.

If that doesn't fix it, then I recommend you change your profile at YahooGroups back to Classic format

Hi All,

I'm a member of a yahogrooup (about blind people korbil@yahoogroups.com). When I've received a mail from this group the mail's some part seems to be closed by a square. Blow there is a sample of message:

As you have seen in sample only "{Disarmed}" messages in subject area are seen like this. But I could not read messages is there any solution to this problem?

How are Yahoo! sending these? Are they multipart messages or HTML-only? They're evidently doing something odd with their HTML, but I wonder if it's possible to read the messages in plaintext - by clicking "View" on the toolbar there.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your suggestion, pressing the "View" button seems to solve the problem. I can see in plaintext. But still some of messages are very obstinate to view themselves. At last this is enough for me.

Thank you again.

You're welcome.

HTML is a nice option to have in email, but can cause problems at times. I expect Yahoo! is injecting advertisements into these mails at random, and the ads may be interacting with the main content in ways Yahoo! has not foreseen. This kind of thing is more likely to be a problem in an email client than in a web-browser, since a full-blown web-browser has a lot of error-correcting ability. Some email clients make use of a full web browser, such as Internet Explorer, for HTML viewing--Outlook Express does that. But then that's less safe.

It's also possible to get messages in Pegasus Mail to open externally to the program in your default web-browser. That should be there as an option on the context menu, if you right-click in the body of an HTML mail. But where these messages are concerned, the HTML seems not to be important to the visual structure of the message, so the best solution is probably to read them in plaintext.

This should have been fixed.  What version of Pegasus Mail are you using?  What version of BearHTML?

You might want to update the version of BearHTML yuo are using.  The current version of Bearhtml can be obtained via email to Martin Ireland:
  mailto:martin.ireland@gov.ab.ca?subject=Send_bearhtml
or from his website:
  http://www3.telus.net/public/irelam/

You can also go to the Yahoo group and set the mail to the traditional version to get rid of these ads.  ;-)
