Update error/Splash Warning

It is update and that is the option I used.

The update renamed

pmail.usr to pmail.us_. I had not considered that a change as Vista did

not change either the last access or last modification dates (both of

which I have visible in explorer).

Once I renamed the file to

pmail.usr Pegasus started successfully as before the update. Would this

not be considered a "programming error"?

I doubt if PMail did this, I suspect that this is just another one of Vista's strange functions. The programming error looks like one of MS's since it does not happen with any version of XP and.or Linux with Wine.
On a different subject,

can I disable the splash screen about saved messages that now appears

at startup when there are msgs in the "drafts" folder, other than

deleting/moving those msgs?

These are the Autosaved messages and you can user File | Open saved messages and then either delete or process the Autosaved messages.

I just updated from 4.41. I had it configured so that I have to enter a username as Pegasus starts. After the update, when I enter my username I am told that no such user exists on the system and the program shuts down. What got overwritten and how do I get it back so that I can access my mail?

Thanks

Hi, what do you see (using a file manager, like Windows Explorer) if you look in c:\pmail\mail? More specifically, do you see a directory that bears the name of your user?

How did you update? Did you select new install or update (or upgrade, I can't remember exactly what it says)?

Finally, in "c:\pmail\mail\" there is file called PMAIL.USR, which you can edit using a simle text editor like Notepad. It is supposed to look something like this:

A;lusername1;username1
A;username2;username2
etc. (assuming you have two users and you should see the name of the user where it says 'username' here.)

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
Steffan

Yes, my user directory exists in the same location as before I updated, i.e, a sub-directory of "Mail"!

It is update and that is the option I used.

Thanks for the help!

Whose programming error would that be, Microsoft's or David Harris's? To be honest, I have no idea. All I know is that I've never encountered the problem, but I use XP (I only upgraded from Win98SE to XP two weeks ago. Just kidding, but I am in fact a slow adopter.)

Cheers!
