error 550:Sender address rejected Domain not found

Sorry,

As Chris Bolton said, my  "myinternaldomain.com" is an internal domain that I had made up myself, not  a real "from" adress. So I use my external domain with the parameters of my ISP .

Hi,

I am trying to configure Mercury Mail as a mail server in my company. Internal mails works very well, but I have problems with the outgoing external mail. I have configured MercuryC (relay version) with all data from my ISP, but when I want to send an external mail, I obtain this error:

550:<myuser@myinternaldomain.com>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found

 Please, someone could help me?

You should send mail outside with a valid From address.

You may also need your ISP to list your outbound domain as 'allowed' by thier SMTP server for relaying.

Ok, I have supposed that this is the problem, but I am not able to find in which screen I have to configure it. It could be in the mercury core module-->Local domain?

Thanks.

That depends a bit on your setup, but usually, yes.

The actual rejection seems to be for the MAIL FROM address (which is set in your mail client) rather than what your server announces itself as.

Sorry, but I do not understand it at all. I am lossing because if I configure the modul Mercury C relay client with my ISP data as follows

smtp.externaldomain.com, Connection port/type: 25, with a login username and password.

What more must I do?

Thanks for the answer. I am just a begginer with mercury but I have this problem since the 15th of july  and I do not know how to fix.
550:<myuser@myinternaldomain.com>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found
The relay server at your ISP is refusing to relay mail with a Sender address of  myuser@myinternaldomain.com.

This is what you set in your email client program (Pmail, OE, Thunderbird etc.)
What more must I do?
You need to either set this to something that your ISP allows, or get your ISP to allow it.

Thanks,

My ISP tells me that the smtp authentification requires three fields: account, login username and password. I try to put myaccount@ispdomain.com in "announce myself as" in the mercury c smtp relay client, but it is not still work.

Well, I don't know what more can I do....

SMTP authentication only requires a USERNAME & PASSWORD.

However, the error message you posted has nothing to do with MercC.

It is complaining about the address you have set as the sender in your email client program.

The error says you are sending mail with a "from" address of    myuser@myinternaldomain.com

As has been said by many people on this board, it's much easier to help if you use the real domain name, but "myinternaldomain.com" sounds like it's a domain name you have made up yourself, not a properly registered external domain? If that's the case, that's the problem - your ISP is saying it won't send your mail because it doesn't have a real "from" address - sending mail from non-existent addresses is a favourite trick for spammers.

Ok, I fix the problem.

Thanks for the help.
