AW: Can't connect to Yahoo

In germany there are no problems between Pmail - SSL  and Yahoo. In the free Yahoo account there are other servers in germany.

E-Mail-Adress: Yahoo! Mail-Adress,  (user@yahoo.com)

User accountname: only the Mail-ID, (without: @yahoo.com)

pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL, Port: 995)

smtp.mail.yahoo.com (need Autentication; SSL, Port: 465)

in both cases server certificate check aktive.

I run Pegasus Mail v4.5 on a Dell Latitude D600 notebook. I have a Yahoo Mail POP3 account. Yahoo instructs users to log on to plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com POP3 server to retrieve mail. They say to use port 995, and Via direct SSL connect. I have the time out set to 60 seconds. But when I try to retrieve my mail, the connection fails. However, if I use port 110, and no Via direct SSL, the connection goes through and I

receive my messages. Below is the  TCP files for when I used port 110 and port 995:

When trying to send messages, I use server plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com. I use port 465, Via direct SSL, do a prior POP3 login to authenticate, but the connection doesn’t go through. Same is true for port 25 with no SSl. I am using a time out of 120 seconds.

Your Via direct SSL connect TCP file reports a timeout at 15 seconds, so are you sure you've set it at 60? Even regardless of whether you have, I wonder whether Yahoo's instructions are correct. I have an account with Gmail that provides me with the same or at least similar instructions and they work for me. Furthermore, if you can download your mail via port 110, why bother using a different port?

Instead of doing a prior POP3 login, how about doing an smtp server login with STARTTLS checked in the security tab (and filling in the necessary details)? Hope this helps.
