Problem with importing address from tab delimited file

[quote user="ralockhart"]

If I import a tab delimited text file with Name and email columns, the name shows up correctly

but the email goes into the phone column and truncates.

Can't reproduce that at all here. However, when I click the the "Open or manage address books" icon in the toolbar, I don't get the Addressbook menu until I flip to the folders window and back again.

Just joined...first post, so hoping I'm doing this correctly and in right place.

When I create a new address book, three fields show up in the pane: Name, Key, Phone.

If I import a tab delimited text file with Name and email columns, the name shows up correctly

but the email goes into the phone column and truncates. If I set up a tab delimited file with all

the fields of the total entry and keep all but name and email emty, the email address goes into

the postal address column. I cannot find anyway to edit the pane fields.

I presume there is a simple solution to this but I cannot find it. Any help greatly appreciated.

Open the help file and read the instructions in section "Importing and Exporting Addressbook Entries".

Many thanks Sven...but I had already done that both with tagged and tab delimited files...under both conditons I get the problems described in

original post. So I'm stumped.

Then please show us an example of your files so we can try to reproduce your problem. AFAIK there is no general problem with the import/export engine. I used it from time to time and do not remember any quirks.

Found using Dawn to convert/import addresses to be the easiest way.
