Saving emails as text files

Thanks Thomas; that sounds like a sensible solution. However, I cannot find a "print to file" option anywhere....

You need to setup a new printer set to print to a file.  I normally use a PDF printer for this so I can do both text and graphics.

Every month I save hundreds of emails as text files (CTRL+A then CTRL+S) for subsequent processing (into a monthly newsletter). Unfortunately a huge percentage of the resulting text file is garbage from unwanted htm and jpg attachments, and it takes ages to find and remove it all. All I want is the text from the BODY of each email. Is there any way to achieve this please?

Try printing the message to a file (with or without headers) instead of saving.  This way you will only get what you see in the reader.
