How to restore a folder?

Sorry - I had got myself in a mess and had forgotten to reinstate the two folders that I was having issues with (I had temporarily moved them to another directory). [:$]

All is fine now - it worked. Many thanks for your help. [Y]

Hi

I am running  v4.51 on XP and hit a problem today after rebooting the computer (which I have done several times since, btw.)  Basically on loading Pegasus Mail, a window popped up saying that one of my folders was damaged (not that unusual over the years - I normally just Reindex) - but every time I OKed the message (or ESCaped from it the message would just keep reappearing, and the program just wouldn't fully load. I rebooted and it still happened.

So, I moved the two associated files (.PMM and .PMI) out of the folder and restated the computer and it loaded up Ok. I then moved the two files back to the folder, but Pegasus did not see them. I then rebooted again but it still is not seeing the folder, even though all is back where it should be - confirmed also in the

WINRULES coding, as it converted some lines to RED with "???????".

I can see all the data in TEXTPAD/WORDPAD OK, but I suspect that Pegasus has some file somewhere that should link everything together (the files are called "FOLO2CD6.PMM/PMI).

Help :-)

David

The heirarch.pm was messed up when you moved the folders back without closing Pegasus Mail.

Try  the following procedure.  This has worked for several others to restore
the functionality of the  message folders:

1.  Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info to determine your mail
    directory.  Exit Pegasus mail.

2.  Rename the file HIERARCH.PM in your HOME mail directory to
    HIERARCH.SAV.

3.  Run WinPMail.  Your HIERARCH.PM will be re-created and should
    start working correctly.

Note:  This will delete any tray structure you have created and it
will have to be recreated.  The process will not affect any
mail of mail folders you have, it only affects the display of
           the folders.

You can turn on the filtering at the same time by moving the winrules.pmc out of the new mail directory before starting Pegasus Mail.

Hi Thomas

I did what you said and renamed HIERARCH.PM to HIERARCH.SAV. I then reloaded Pegasus and nothing is any different - the folder I need still won't display or be recognised by Pegasus (although it is there in the directory) nor did it recreate HIERARCH.PM???

Your thoughts?  [*-)]

When you say "Run WinPMail", I presume of course that you mean "winpm-32.exe" ....
