Pegasus mail - slow to open a message

Thanks for that TRS, I just installed a free pdf printer and when I made it my default it sorted it. I now remember something like this years ago, same old problem I guess. Thanks for all the help guys.

p.s. I read your other thread huntingtower - probably a better solution but I was born lazy and the pdf printer trick will do for me. Cheers.

Hopefullysomebody can help me here.  Been runningPegasus for over ten years, rarely had an issue until yesterday.  Firstly, nothing on my system has changed (noWindows updates etc.. only thing that could possibly have updated itself was myantivirus software [Avira AntiVir], but to test things out I've disabled it).

Versioninfo:

WindowsXP, service pack 3 - last update done about one month ago.

Pegasus- v4.4.1

What'shappening is as follows - when attempting to open an email message (either fromthe New mail folder - or from a folder holding other messages),  it can take from 15 to 30 seconds before themessage opens.  Once a message is open, the 'up/down' arrows in the message reader work fine, I can easily scrollup/down.

Oneinteresting thing is the 'look' of a message - there seems to be rulers on theleft hand side of the message - both in the header and the body text.  As shown in the following jpg:

http://www.mullooly.com/email.jpg

Itried upgrading to the latest release of Pegasus (4.5.1), only to be hit withthe Windows error message "Error signature winpm-32.exe" - and thenPegasus fails to load.  I've revertedback to 4.4.1, at least Pegasus now loads, but I still have the initialproblem.

Anyone got any ideas?

Same problem here. Not sure when it started but the last couple of months. Have been running Pegasus for 10 years+. I don't have any margins down the side though, just looks like normal. Also switching to the attachment tab takes a long time too. I'm running 4.12a:-

Have you tried changing the windows default printer to one that writes to a file.  You could use any of the various PDF type printers for this.  If this fixes the problem then the printer driver is the cause of the problem of slow message opening.

My problem, almost identical, turned out to be a print spooler problem. Reports in other lists suggest this is experienced particularly by people running Windows XP SP2 or SP3 and it has been said that, for some unexplained reason, it is linked in particular with installed NVidia graphics cards. You might like to see my solution in another thread (http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/20603.aspx). It has worked for me and I hope it helps you.
