I have installed 4.52 from scratch since I had to reformat my harddisk. I managed to get the old folders allright but my problem is also all the POP3 addresses. I will "happily" input them manually but how do I do? I have forgotten [*-)]

I have a main mail server mail.conexor.com and many mailboxes e.g. bilpool@conexor.com. I remember the POP3 should be written something like "bilpool+conexor.com" or perhaps "bilpool+mail.conexor.com". I have tried all various options but it will not work...???

I have managed to download mails from "mail.conexor.com" but the other mailboxes are impossible to reach.

I have managed to send e-mail via port 26 so that function is fine.

Please help me how and where to input the various mailboxes to get the hundreds of mails stuck there now!

maybe someone could help me out.

Whenever I try to update my old Pegasus Mail 4.02 to another version (and I've tried them all), all my pop3, smtp settings and email adresses are gone for good. I've looked around in various boards and FAQs, but coulnd't find a solution. I read that these settings aren't in the pmail.ini anymore? What should I do to have a proper update with everything intact?

Assuming you've installed Pegasus in c:\pmail, your address books (*.pmr and *.pm! files) and pop and smtp settings files (popxxxxx.pnd and smtpxxxxx.pnd) should be in c:\pmail\mail, and so should your pmail.ini file. And the pmail.ini file should include the following lines under [Pegasus Mail for Windows] (if you've set up multiple identities, then these lines should also be present in the Identities section of the pmail.ini file):

POP3 Definition                           = POPxxxxx.PND, 0
POP3 Definition                           = POPxxxxx.PND, 0
POP3 Definition                           = POPxxxxx.PND, 0
SMTP Definition                           = SMTxxxxx.PND, 0
SMTP Definition                           = SMTxxxxx.PND, 0

Hi, thanks but I doesn't look that way. I've found some POPxxxxx.pnd's, but these are very old account I don't use anymore. All active identities are in the pmail.ini itself... maybe that's the problem? Any chance there is a way to import the pmail.ini from version 4.02 to a new one?

How about entering the pop and smtp details manually? Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. And perhaps you'll find that these settings weren't lost after all when you hit the Add button to add pop and smtp server details.

You should first update from version 4.02 or older to Version 4.12a Then the setup program will automatically convert your existing old-style POP and SMTP data to new-style definitions when it detects an upgrade

sadly, the update from 4.02 to 4.12a didn't work either. The old settings aren't converted.

And yes, there are some settings when I hit the 'add' button, but these are some old one I haven't used in years, all the current one are in the pmail.ini, which the newer version don't use for the pop and smtp settings. At least that's my guess.

Yes, I could enter the data manually, but I'm the type of guy who first tries to solve a problem before working around it. And the other thing is, I can't find the file where I saved some of my passwords for my email accounts. And that really sucks...

You could continue to use 4.02 until you have retrieved your password and user name details, which you can do by creating an Internet session log. Go to File | Network configuration | General and turn on "Create Internet session logs (advanced diagnostic use only)". The resulting file is named  TCPxxxx.WPM.
