duplicate messages in new mail folder

I just checked, and I cannot read/open the messages. It says "This

message contains binary or non-textual data that cannot be previewed

within Pegasus Mail" You can work with this file in the message

reader's 'Attachments' page. When I go to the attachment page it is

empty. I thank you in advance for your help-Dave Seber

This sounds like the message does not exist.  What do you see in the raw view?  What do you see when you close and re-open the new mail folder.

This looks almost like a POP3 account is connecting to the new mail directory, downloading and deleting the mail.  The delete message will still show in the new mail folder until it is closed and reopened.  The same thing can happen with a filter.

Help!

I opened my pegasus mail program today  only to find repeated duplications of a small group (less than 20) of messages I left in my new mail folder happening again and again. I cannot delete these duplicate message sets (which now total over 700) although I can delete new (fresh) messages that I get. I have updated to the latest pegasus version, but to no avail with this issue.  Please help-Dave Seber

You don't state how you are using WinPMail. Assuming you are downloading your mail via POP3 I would first check two things. Locate your new mail location (use HELP about info button) and then use command prompt or widows explorer to navigate to that subdirectory and check for *.cnm files. Those would be the raw new mail messages. Make sure none of those files are marked with read only attribute as WinPMail can't work with files marked read only.l

Then after you have read or move any messages you want to keep close winpmail and again use command prompt or windows explorer to delete all the *.cnm files in your username subdir. When you restart WinPMail those new mail messages should now be gone.

If not using POP3 or receiving mail messges some other way  then come back with more details and somebody should be able to help you with another method to get of any still unwanted new messages.

Can you actually read all of these message?

Do most of them go away when you close and re-open the new mail folder?

If so I suspect that you have a new mail filter that is looping.  In this case check you new mail filters.

If not I suspect that there is something in you POP3 mailbox that is causing a download failure so the mail is not deleted.  In this case try File | Selective mail download to download the mail.

Dear Jerry,

Thank you for responding to my inquiry.  I am using POP3 to download my messages, but I can neither delete or move these "recurring" messages from my new mail folder. I am also getting a little box telling me there is no info available on the new mail folder (unlike all my other folders which give me their file names when I right click on them).  I have gone to the appropriate mailbox in the Pmail section of the C drive and there are loads of these.cnm files (some with green checkmarks some not). Should I remove all of them (do the green checkmarks connotate read only)?  I thank you in advance again so please advise-Dave Seber
