first malfunction within 15 years: from:??? to:???

Hello community, SOLVED !!!

special thanks to Sven for the hint and many thanks to the whole community for all the inputs I could gather.

tried a lot of things, many new installations of pmail, programs here, accounts there, rights everywhere...

cut the story short:

install Pegasus Mail in root c:/, (multiple) user accounts in c:/pmail/mail/, check rights for directory in Windows 7 (with explorer, security), DONE.

Looking forward to another 50 years with Pegasus, Wolfgang

Sounds hard to believe but the first malfunction within 15 years of usage occurred some weeks ago.

v4.51 installed on Windows7 fine, apart from the "hidden" graphics and text menu, sorted that out.

There are 2 users configered, same "feature" in both accounts:

Messages send show "from:??? to:???" in folder preview, when message is opened, it is empty!

The same happens, when messages from new mail folder are draged to other folders!

Upgrade to v4.52 as well as new installation of v4.52 did not solve the issue.

Folder consistency of for example copies to self folder yields error, when reindexed, 2 messages appear, one of them empty, the other one with the content, also my email address appears in the "From" field, this used to be "To:........". Reindexing also brings back messages that were deleted!

Have a feeling that new messages, this accounts for both new mail and copies to self folder, get "messed up" somehow!

Sure, this is a minor issue, and someone in the community can give assistance to sort this out!

Best regards and a great day to everyone reading this message /post,

Wolfgang

Looks like a rights issue. What is your installation path?

Have you installed Pegasus Mail under "Program Files"?

Hello Sven, quite plausible, I´ll check that one,

Pegasus Mail is installed under c:/pmail, NOT

Program Files on a Windows 7.

The Windows 7 is installed  as a virtual machine on

a new macbook via Parallels Desktop 5 and the pmail

users are installed on a networked drive provided by

Parallels Desktop 5 called Y:/common/pmail/user.

(Pegasus Mail was the most important reason to keep

Windows on the new mac!!!)

Hello Sven, do you mean rights issue for c:/pmail (Program) or Y:/common/pmail/user (multiple user accounts)?

The issue of Program Files on a Windows 7, not write pemission, is known.

I changed the rights to have full access to c:/pmail, did not help

(as decribed in http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/21608.aspx)

Any ideas welcome, Wolfgang
