4.5.1 --> 4.5.2... Pegasus Mail broken
Well, until now I used Pmail under C:\Program Files (x86) without problem (I installed Win Vista 2 yaers ago or so), by giving Modify and Write permissions for MAIL subdirectory! Why now, with 4.52, it doesn't work anymore?
It's a compiler/linker issue (said someone who knows better): Since 4.52 has been compiled with a more recent version of the Visual C IDE it got "elevated" to claiming to be fully VISTA (and later) compliant which it actually isn't as it still writes user data to UAC protected directories if installed to a Program Files path. If it wouldn't claim the former Windows would simply "virtualize" these directories without anyone noticing (which happened with 4.51), now it just stops working properly without telling anyone what's going wrong: Security fighting usability, once again, unfortunately ... (both are important enough, of course!)

I tried to install the update to 4.52 on my Vista Ultimate 64bit, but after that PMail doesn't start anymore: I see only the splash screen for less than a second, than nothing! I tried to delete MAIL directory, but nothing changes: PMail only works if I downgrade to 4.5.1!

Any ideas to solve?

First of all you don't need 4.52 if not using Windows 7. Secondly: Is Pegasus Mail installed in a "C:\Program Files\" subdirectory? If so it won't work due to UAC issues, see this thread.

Ok, I don't need it because I use Vista, not 7, just curiosity!
