Hi there,

as I was searching for a mail, I just discovered, that I lost a whole Folder of Mails.

The Folder was existing and the mails were listed. When I tried to open one from February it took pmail a while to open it and I just discovered it was not the one I tried to open. So I opened another one and it was the same wrong one like the one before. I made a backup of pmail and did reindex. Only 5 of 95 mails stayed in the folder. Pissed by that I did backup and suddenly the whole folder was dissapeared.

As I am using pmail since 2000, I am kind of thinking, that my mails from this period of time are not save in pmail.

Any suggestions how to handle problems like this?

Have a nice day and thanx for thought.

Sounds like you hierarch.pm is hosed.

Try  the following procedure.  This has worked for several others to restore
the functionality of the  message folders:

1.  Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info to determine your mail
    directory.  Exit Pegasus mail.

2.  Rename the file HIERARCH.PM in your HOME mail directory to
    HIERARCH.SAV.

3.  Run WinPMail.  Your HIERARCH.PM will be re-created and should
    start working correctly.

Note:  This will delete any tray structure you have created and it
will have to be recreated.  The process will not affect any
mail of mail folders you have, it only affects the display of
           the folders.

hi thomas, its worse. i did send mail. after sending pmail checked for mail and started to download (pop) the mails. downloading a second mail it stopped by 35% and then pmail returned

mistake and that it has to shut down. then starting new it asked if its still active. i declined and pmail loaded all folders until new mail, then it shut down again. this happened last

time too and now i have to load backup to be able to restart pmail.

looks like you have a huge message on the server and you are not allowing time to download the mail.  Try File | Selective mail download to see what is on the server.  Also increase the timeout in the POP3 setup.
