Win 7 (64) Disappearing mail & configuration

Thanks Your information gave me a great start

In my case Win 7 (64) the path was

C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Pmail.

Thank you Thank you thank you

I copied the mail directory (yes I did make a back up of the existing file).

I clicked on the Pegasus short cut and voila all is back to "normal"

Don't you love how MS re interprets "standards".... one was under XP the world accepted the value of 0 for an IP lease to mean the lease did not expire .. MS gave it a 0 ie no time lease - found tha out the hard way.

The Next was for sharing on a MS network you now (win7) have to give a fully qualified user name ie \\domain\username to log into another PC but - now things are making sense (an AHA moment) if you log into a different machine to copy a file to a local drive you can't do it .... the AHA was that MS has virtualised the dorectories and will not let a "foreign user" even though it is you to copy files into the  now virtualised  directories.

I guess these interpretations are what keeps PC people employed [:D]

I was able to install Pegasus 4.52 into the program files (86) directory And to have it working like a dream. Even with a low UAC enabled.

However, After much head banging with UAC and other programs (I run virus scan & Firewall apps - non MS). I decided that the things I need to use far outweigh the benefits of UAC - My problems with UAC were centered around networking and other items - nothing to do with Pegasus!!

So when I turned off UAC & rebooted all of my previous Pegasus emails disappeared all of the configurations gone.......(I was polling email from two hosts everything Was great for Pegasus).

I did a search for *.pm (but the only ones present were the default - each about  29 k not the at least 100k of the previously existing files.

ANy idea what happened?

Any idea if I can recover the missing emails?/configurations

Thanks

That's the problem with running applications in compatibility mode with Windows trying to fix things by "virtualizing" folders (which it obviously stops doing with UAC disabled): Open a folder called something like [Drive]:\Users\[Current Windows User]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86) and search for a directory named like you Pegasus Mail installation directory: This is where you'll most probably find you Pegasus Mail settings etc. You'll probably have the same directory tree below the "real" (= "non virtual") Pegasus Mail installation directory which is the place where you'll need to move these files. Please make sure to not do it the wrong way: Don't overwrite files/directories without verifying their actual contents, if in doubt create backups of the directory trees before changing anything!!!
