List posts coming as attachments

With hopes that gmail might change the format somehow, I tried changing my list mail to a gmail acct and then had gmail forward to my Pegasus acct.  No luck with that so I ended up switching to Eudora and that worked.  Maybe it will get changed in a future update.

I am on a high volume mail list (Mailman).  Occasionally I would receive a post with just the list signature and the body of the message would be listed as an attachment.  Several months ago the majority of the list posts are coming in that way, making it almost impossible for me to keep participating in the list.  Is there some Pmail setting that I can change to stop this?  I run a Mailman list of my own through another Pegasus user account and emails I receive from a user on both lists come in normally on that account but as attachmenst on the other.  As far as I know my settings are the same for both accounts.

When I first noticed the problem I emailed the list host and asked if he had made any changes.  He hadn't.  I noticed a Mailman list setting that says "Should Mailman collapse multipart/alternative to its

first part content?".  Mine was set to Yes so I asked if he could try changing it to see if that helped.  It didn't.  I love Pegasus and I've been using it for ages but I can't read 100 messages a day take clicking every message multiple times!  I sure hope someone has an answer to my problem.

TIA

Not without seeing the message headers (all of them) from the raw view - the (plain text, HTML, whatever) contents can be removed ... maybe it's a digest?

Here's the message headers from the RAW view.  I edited names and email addresses in CAPS.  The list does have a digest mode but I'm not subscribed to that.  FWIW, It seems like it is much more likely to happen with posts from people with smart phones but it's not consistent and it happens on regular email users too.

Well, this shows clearly that it's a sender issue: It's a multipart/mixed message where Pegasus Mail displays the first text/xyz part which happens to be the signature while the actual message is contained  in the following multipart/alternative section which would be displayed if it were the first part. Although, I'm afraid, Pegasus Mail could do a better job by taking care of the Content-Disposition: inline header which suggests do display all text sections within a single combined view ... but how smart is the idea of inserting a signature at the top of a message ...?

Thanks Michael.  The signature at the top is for the List sponsor. I doubt the list moderator will want to move it just for me.  Is this related to an individual poster's email settings because all messages have that signature added but they don't all display as multi-part messages?   About 1 in 10 come in normally.  Hmmm...I just looked through a bunch of posts and it only seems to happen when posts have an HTML version.  The plain text posts come out fine.  I have Pegasus set to display plain format when available.  I tried changing it to display fancy format when available but it didn't do anything. Is that applied when the mail is downloaded?
Thanks Michael.  The signature at the top is for the List sponsor
I guess I should have figured this ...
Is this related to an individual poster's email settings because all messages have that signature added but they don't all display as multi-part messages? (...) it only seems to happen when posts have an HTML version.  The plain text posts come out fine.  I have Pegasus set to display plain format when available.  I tried changing it to display fancy format when available but it didn't do anything. Is that applied when the mail is downloaded?
No, it's applied on displaying the message, but the HTML must be there along with the plain text as part of the same multipart section, which depends on the sender's option settings. I'm afraid you can only ask the latter for doing you the favour of sending non-formatted messages to the list ...

Darn it.  The List has over 2000 members so that's not going to happen.  Thanks for your help anyway.  A friend has Eudora and said she doesn't have the problem so I may trying switching to that for  my List mail.  Unfortunately I've got hundreds of emails saved for future reference.  A lot of people use gmail for the list but I can't stand webmail when I get behind and that happens pretty often on such a busy list.

Do you happen to know what the Mailman list setting of "collapse

multipart/alternative to its

first part content" does?  It seems, to me, like that should have worked but it didn't.  At least some were still coming through that way.

Take a look at the message headers of such a message in comparison to the one you posted here already, without these I can't tell. You should be able to test it yourself by sending a formatted message with the proper option enabled on Tools => Options => Sending mail (Generate mutlipart/alternative versions ...).
