Newbie: Can't view graphics in e-mails

I have the same problem with 4.52. I right-click on the message, select "Show pictures (HTML only)" and  gray boxes appear where the graphics should be. I have tried all of the various settings under options. Have had to revert back to 4.41 as this does not happen in that version. Using Windows XP.

Follow up: Found the solution that worked for me here: http://pmail.praktit.se/forums/thread/11497.aspx   and here: http://pmail.praktit.se/forums/thread/17991.aspx

Graphics are not showing in email preview pane or when opened.  Is there a setting where I can change that?  Thanks!

Hello karenhvb,

Go to Tools - Options.... - Incoming mail - Message reader and place a mark for 'Where a choice of format exists, display the fancy version'.
Restart Pegasus Mail.

Hello karenhvb, Go to Tools - Options.... - Incoming mail - Message reader and place a mark for 'Where a choice of format exists, display the fancy version'. Restart Pegasus Mail.

For your security and privacy, images that are not part of the message, and must instead be downloaded from the internet, are blocked by default. Many e-mail programs do this these days but you can easily override the setting if you want.

My advice would be that you do not just allow all images to be displayed but only allow them in e-mails from trusted sources like newsletters that you have definitely requested. To do this, right-click on the message in the message list and choose "Add sender's address to..." and then "Allow remote graphics list". All messages from that address will now have their images loaded automatically.

If you do want to open yourself up to all kinds of nasties, you can completely switch off the safety net by going to Tools > Options > Message Reader and changing the final option, "Display remote-linked graphics in messages" to "Automatically if a connection exists".

Hope that helps.   :)
