Just installed, and can't sign in.

Install Pegasus where you like (the location you suggest is fine, although I don't see what's wrong with the default location but this is probably a matter of personal preference) and then change the mailbox location afterwards in Tools | Options | General settings | Mailbox location. You can of course also install Pegasus on D: if you like.

Cheers!

I just installed Pegasus Email and am attempting to get it to work.

I discovered that it seems to have a 8 char limit on Email path directory names, as specifiying "D:\Data\PEGASUSEMAIL" caused it to choke (after creating it) with an invalid email path error.  So I deleted the directory, and the pmail.cfg file and tried again.

This time I set it up for D:\data\Pegasus and it didn't choke.  It still doesn't work though, as I choose the option for multiple email accounts.  It then required me to create a user, so I did "John" with admin privileges. Now, when I start Pegasus, it asks for a userid, and if I give it "John", it says the user doesn't exist and exits.

Umm, shouldn't installing a program like this be relatively simple?  So far, it's been a complete disaster.

The username 'database' is a file called PMAIL.USR. It's possible it's getting confused somewhere.

I'd uninstall Pegasus, delete the whole branch of it's folders, then reinstall again using defaults at every step except setting up a default user account for you. Then tell us what you're seeing.

Pegasus may have its quirks, but installation is normally totally hassle-free. You are a test case to be studied!

Did you consider any of the issues described in this thread?

Okay, letting everything default makes it work.

Of course, now the program is in "C:\PMAIL", which is not where I'd like it.

And the mail is in "C:\PMAIL\MAIL", which is definitely NOT where I want it.

I'm running Win XP.  While I'd prefer to put it with all the other programs in Program Files, it seems to have a problem with that directory.  I guess I'll try sticking it in my C:\Java\ dir.

I really want all the Email stuff in D:\Data\Pegasus.

How can I set it up to do this?

Note that I will have at least 6 different emails via POP3.
