Problem sending mails - Mail Delivery Failure message

Hi,

Just to say thanks for your speedy reply - much appreciated.  I took your advice and deleted superfluous PMX, PMO and PMW.  It was when looking through these that I realised that there were emails from one user associated with the Mail Delivery Failures.  Sure enough, when she wasn't using the program, all was ok!  Having uninstalled and reinstalled her copy of the program, all is now running smoothly.  Don't know if that could be of use to someone in future.

 Thanks again.

Hi,

We're currently using Pegasus v4.41.  Over the last few days, each mail we send generates another mail (raw view as per the below).  My hunch is that Pegasus is forming and trying to send a dummy "parcel" alongside each email which has no headers/content?

We were also getting mails corrupted in queued mail, so I have tried removing 0KB files as suggested here: http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/10910.aspx but the problem persists.  I don't know whether the two are linked...

At the moment, mail is only being sent when I push it through via review queued mail and incoming mail is getting jammed.  Sending through a test message to ourselves seems to ease the backlog, but obviously is not a long-term solution!

 All suggestions gratefully received!

KR,

Victoria

Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following
reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail
relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module:

   *** Invalid message file - no '$$' signature ***
WinPMail has encountered a file which is not properly formatted
for sending via its built-in SMTP transport (valid files start
with the characters '$$' on a line of their own). This error is
usually the result of running out of disk space in the volume
containing your home mailbox. The message cannot be sent.

Probably are linked.  I suspect one of these files at least is a PMX file without the 'glue' headers.  When you have finished sending all mail and there is nothing good in the queue go to the home mail directory and delete all PMX files.  That will at least get rid of the messages in 'final' form.

I would open all the PMO and PMW files in Notepad as well to see what you have in the way of message to send not in the final form.  Delete the ones that you do not want.

Edit:  Tell your anti-virus software to not protect on opening any of the files in your mail directory since this can easily be causing the problem in the first place.
