Hello all again,

Everything has been going good with mail server, but i just found out a problem with one user, here is set up....

User has 2 PCs with email client Thunderbird, and is set as IMAP. One PC is XP Pro the other is Vista Home.

Both PCs are always on, and alot of times Thunderbird is open on both PCs at same time.

The Vista at times will pop up this window from Thunderbird......

Current Command not succeded "The Mail Server responded Error -96- processing fetch command."

Is this another Vista issue ? Or a setting?

Thanks

Troy

Simultaneous access from two or more clients via IMAP will mean that it's likely that access will be denied now and then as some IMAP commands will lock the folder it's using. This can be treated differently by different email clients (and different versions of an email client). XP or Vista should make no difference, though.

If this happens very frequently you could try to switch on session logging in MercuryI to see exactly what is happening when the connecting client reports the error. Remember to switch it off again though as it will slow down the server and consume extra disk space.

Update:...Found out today that it wasnt the user email account i thought. But was the spam IMAP folder that is having the issue. Every user was having the same problem today. So i did a test by trying 1 email client at a time, and all had same problem.

After restarting the PC that Mercury is installed on, the error has stopped. Is this a Spamhalter issue?

The SpamHalter spam correction account is automatically emptied by SpamHalter, so if any user is connected to it via IMAP and tries to get the messages in it it's likely to be huge synchronization problems.

Ok,so even if only one user had their email client open, and clicked the Send/Receive, the synchronization problem could happen when the email client was trying to access the spam folder at same time SpamHalter was?

The contents of the spam correction mailbox isn't supposed to be read by a client as SpamHalter will delete each message as soon as it's been processed. So if a client uses IMAP to connect to the spam mailbox, finds a few messages there and tries to get the headers for those messages one at a time, it's very likely that one or more of those messages have already been deleted.
