If MercuryE isn't able to connect to other servers one common reason is that your Internet provider has blocked outgoing traffic on port 25 to stop spam bots. This is more of less standard for home connections nowadays. If so you can use MercuryC instead and relay the mail through your ISP's SMTP server.

If your ISP allows traffic on port 25 you could try switching on session logging in MercuryE and send to Hotmail once more. The session log will show exactly what happens when Mercury tries to connect. Remember to switch off session logging again after the test.

Thanks For helping man I fixed what you had stated by calling my ISP and asking the ports which they use for smtp. He told me that they blocked port 25 for mail and they use 587 now and for pop3 just leave it as 110.

So I edited Mercury and made the smtp fit those settings and now I am recieving a new problem but also I am Still unable to send mail or recieve it. but the Email client thunderbird is able to automaticaly detect the settings for the server and yea....

its also able to resolve the hotmail.com domain to an ip and if you look in the pics you will see maybe some more info.

(Side note about the Pics ... they are hosted on my computer's server so if i turn my comp off the links will not work also my comp should be on while im home.)

Since they block port 25 did you shift to MercuryC  to use your ISP's host to send the mail?

well that still doesnt explain why i cant recieve mail form pop and umm i switched to mercC and cant use that besides i was told that just because port 25 is blocked doesnt mean you cant use another port like 1234 or something just the isp block mail on 25 587 is just the next common use for mail smtp but i cant figure out why i cant even recieve mail i have something set up wrong but i dont know what....

Receiving mail via POP3 depends on weather you are talking about receiving mail via MercuryD from a POP3 server or serving mail via MercuryP to a POP3 client.

Mail servers receive mail from other mail servers on port 25, no other port is valid since the connecting SMTP host would not know which one to use.  Since port 25 is blocked you cannot use MercuryE to send, you can use MercuryC to send to the ISP SMTP port on any port they use for receiving mail from mail clients.

You can use other ports for mail clients to send mail via your server using MercuryS.

For info

MercuryE must use port 25 to send mail to other SMTP hosts.  You can't use MercuryE for sending if you do not have a fixed IP address or port 25 is blocked.

MercuryC sends mail to a SMTP relay host using whatever port the people supplying the SMTP relay host tell you to use.

MercuryS receives mail from other SMTP hosts on post 25.  It can receive mail on any valid port you set to receive mail from SMTP mail clients.

MercuryP serves POP3 mail from Mercury mail directories by default using port 110, you can set this to use any port you want if the mail clients can support alternate ports.

MercuryD get mail from a POP3 server and puts it into local Mercury mail directories.
