Questions answered: Checking the properties of STATE.PMJ; it does appear to update according to the timestamps on the file. Also yes the folder configuration does retain its user settings - its only the column widths on the main mail display window that is obstinate.
Incidentally I use a boot program that switches Access Control off at boot time and also kills the Vista requirement for Microsoft approved programs etc.
The whole thing is not a major issue, only a nuisance. I have used all email programs with the exeption of just a few and I must say with no hesitation that Pegasus puts the lot of them in the shade.
