Sometimes the solution is pretty easy: Maybe it's simply the sheer length of the URL ...?

I have several item searches saved in ebay, which means I get several emails from them each day when items I'm looking for are put up for auction.
For the last month or two, if I try to open a link in my browser I get the message: "Access violation at address 00430033 in module 'winpm-32.exe'".
This only happens with emails from ebay - in all others I am able to open links in my browser.
It's not a major problem as I can open the whole message in the web browser and click on the link from there, but it is annoying.
I'm wondering whether anyone has ideas as to what's going wrong, and whether I can fix this.
I'm on Pegasus 4.41; Firefox 3.6.8; Windows XP (SP3). (I have tried this with IE8 and get the same error message).

What have you selected in Tools | Options | Hyperlinks?
What does the E-bay link look like, paste a copy in a reply?
Thanks, both, for your replies.
Irelam - I've forwarded an email I received today from Ebay as requested.
I've also attached a jpg of the hyperlink screen below.
Here's an example of an Ebay link:

It's always a good idea to test the various options on the hyperlink screen - but you should definitely disable Use URLPROXY.EXE unless you have a specific reason for not doing so: This option is obsolete on current Windows versions.

This link open just fine for me.
Turn off the URL Proxy option and try again. That proxy is real old and does not handle many types of the URL strings, especially the long one.
Thank you idw and Thomas - you've solved the problem. The links are now working perfectly.
I still don't understand why that setting was only affecting Ebay emails, and only for the last few weeks, but the important thing is that they are working again.
