Forwarding to a Mailing List

Hi,

thank you very much Mr. Stephenson!
Works great now.

Hi,

thank you very much Mr. Stephenson! Works great now.

Regards

Hello,

I have a strange problem.
I have a mercury server which is running in a local environment an gets his mail thru a pop3 client.
Outgoing mail is sent thru a smtp client, which works fine so far.

Now I want to create a mailing list, actually 2 different mailing lists.
My problem is that the mailing list address is not accessible from the outside since the server is in a LAN environment.
So I wanted to forward the mail for the mailing list using filter rules.

This works perfectly for forwarding mail to maiser.
I also get the correct response to the mail address I sent the request from.

But here is where it gets interesting:

When I send a mail directly thru the server using File -> Send mail message it works nicely.
However if I try to send it thru the filter it gets forwarded to the mailing list, I get an -OK, but no process is started and no mail is sent so the mailing list.

I have found a similar post https://freemailng6201.web.de/jump.htm?goto=http%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.pmail.com%2Fforums%2Fthread%2F1130.aspx but I don't understand how he fixed it.

Regards

He did not fix it since no mail sent from the mail server itself will ever be forwarded to the list, it is quietly discarded. This is because if mail from the server was allowed there would be all sorts of looping when there were error sending the mail and it was bounced back to the mail server .

So is it possible at all to forward a mail to a mailing list using a filter ?

Is there another way to use mailing lists with a server that is not accessible directly from the outside (only LAN)?

Not possible is what I assume you mean here.

Down load mail from a POP3 account via MercuryD and then alias the mail to the name of the mailing list. For example, if you download mail from a POP3 account user@pop3.com and alias this to listname@internet.name.for.this.system it will be passed to the list and processed.
