I am experiencing problems with Mercury 4.62 in that not all functions work. This is happening intermittently, maybe once or twice a day. This started to happen 2-3 days ago, after having had no problems with the current configuration for at least two years. The symptom is that none of the LAN (IMAP) clients will connect to the Mercury server. When the server machine is examined, a dozen or more small windows are showing on the screen, which just say "Error" and also contain a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. The Mercury D Distributing POP3 client still seems to making connections and bringing in mail from my ISPs when this has happened.
I have also examined the Windows (XP) System Event Viewer and this shows errors around the time when the Mercury problems occurred. There seem to be two types of error all with the source "Srv":
- Event ID 2020 "The server was unable to allocate from the system paged pool because the pool was empty".
- Event ID 2000 "The server's call to a system service failed unexpectedly"
Also around the same time as these errors, I am seeing Warnings in the System Event Viewer listings concerning inability to synchronize W32time and the Browser service having problem accessing a list of servers.
Given what is shown in the System Event Viewer, maybe Mercury is not the source of the problem, but is suffering as a result of system problems.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
Gordon
