Pegasus Mail Suggestions
Archive System Still Needed

Not a native (builtin function) but Fookes Software does have an application called Mailbag Assistant that will do as you request. Many companies are required by both law or internal procedures to archive all mail and this is one method of making it happen.

see for more information:

With this you can archive/search/export or view by saved folders as you wish.

Hello Pegasorum:

It seems that the idea of creating Archives is still a big problem. I have posted about this before, and I have read through others' posts, and as far as I can see, it is still pretty complex, and not particularly functional.

The main problem that I cannot sort out is that one can only move Message Folders to a new location but not Message Trays (a folder that holds other folders)

I have a number of Main Message Trays, inside which are dozens of Trays, inside of which can be more Trays, etc. to the point where there are Trays that (finally!) hold Message Folders.

 Like:  ( >> represents a Message Tray;  > represents a Message Folder )

My mailbox

>>Clients 2010 (Similar Trays for other Big Headings)

    >>Province 1  etc

      >>Region 1   etc

        >>City 1

          > Amanda

          > Arthur   etc.

        >>City 2  etc

            >>Downtown

               > Basil

               > Beatrice  etc

           >> Burbs

               > Zebedee

               > Zeke etc

This goes on and on and on, to thousands of items. Unfortunately, by law, I have to keep all this stuff for a minimum of seven years.

But it makes no sense to have it all load up every time I open or close Pegasus.

What I need to do is create a New Top Level Message Tray at the same level as My Mailbox, (or one level below, if that makes more sense) lets say Archive Box 2009, select all the Message Trays (for example: Ctrl/Click or some other system), and Move them  from My Mailbox into Archive Box 2009.

In other Message Folders in my current My Mailbox  would like to move some (but not all) lower level items to Archive Box 2009, or perhaps a different Archive Box.

Then I need to move Archive Box 2009 onto a USB drive or some other place so that it gets out of the current Pegasus Mailbox. But, when needed, I could bring it back (or point Pegasus to it), so that I could read them (and all of their attached files) if necessary.

In his recent (well, August 2010) Developer News posting, David Harris has told us that he is rewriting the Message Store : "The Message Store is the "back end" of the program, responsible for organizing and controlling access to mailboxes, folders, messages and other mail-related data."  (I don't know how he does this!!)

I am wondering if any of the Beta Team or other Pegasus gurus know if there is an Archiving Method included in this critical part of the Pegasus/Mercury Dynamic Duo. If so, that would certainly fill a rather he hole in the current versions of the program.

Thanks, as always, for your patience and comments.
