Adress completiion from addressbook - aliases

Thanks, Michael!

Anyway, I was able to solve the problem in the meantime:

In the "address book properties" there are a couple of options to either use or not use the aliases either for each individual addressbook or for all addressbooks at once:

Choose "Addressbooks" from the "Addresses" menu, click the "Book"... button on the toolbar and choose "Addressbook properties" to access those options.

For some reason, "Apply the e-mail address instead of the alias" was enabled for all of my addressbooks.

Before I updated to PMail 4.5 (I don't know which version I used before) it was possible to complete addresses automatically from aliases used in address books. In 4.52 addresses are only completed from the plain email address stored in the addressboods, not from aliases.  This is awkward when people have weird email addresses that have nothing to do with their full names.  I have tried any possible way to check the boxes in the respective settings window. Am I doing something fundamentally wrong or has this valuable feature really been removed from Pmail?

Thanks

 Roland

There have been issues with this in the past (such as only resolving addresses from the "recently used" list, not from address books) but they should have been fixed. Now the question is what's special with your aliases? I haven't tested this for a while but Pegasus Mail had issues with resolving 8bit characters (such as umlauts or accented characters) in the past if occurring in the first or second position. Otherwise I don't see what you describe. Is address resolution enabled on Tools => Options => Messages and replies (at the bottom)?
