Pegasus crashing on opening

Am using 4.52 for windows 7 (starter) on my notebook.

When loading Pegasus everything loads ok until the screen

says “opening new mail” then it hangs with a windows notice to the effect that the

programme has stopped and that windows is looking for a solution.

I have tried loading a new copy of Pegasus  but that did not produce a solution. I have

also tried cleaning some (but not all) the files using “Pegasus Mail Maillbox

Maintenance to no effect.

Can u help and tell me what other steps I can take to cure

my problem and open Pegasus normally

A simple forum search should yield a couple of results such as this one or that one ...
